You know, I’ve actually imagined that song playing a role in a left wing March. Maybe the image of the Continental Soldiers wouldn’t be universally popular, because the founding generation wasn’t ‘for everyone,’ but if it were done ironically, with alterations made to the flags and uniforms depending upon the groups or individuals participating, and with obvious toys in place of muskets, then they could sing that song while marching to the fife and drum. The song might need an update to make it more inclusive, and maybe additional verses, but I like the idea.
